Friday’s Foolery

Wildflower! Plaza Stage

Friday’s Foolery was born when five guys who should have been rehearsing for church spent a few hours playing 90s cartoon themes instead and figured out they sounded pretty good together. They got together a great Stevie Wonder medley and YouTube agreed they sounded pretty good together. Since then, the band members—bassists Kevin Gray, Jr., guitarist Felix Tellez, keyboardist Kwinton Gray, dummer Brandon Price and lead singer and songwriter JaQuay Morgan—have honed their craft on just about every stage in Dallas. With weekly residencies at Vetted Well/Alamo Drafthouse and Three Links—where they won Best Weekly Residency from Central Track Magazine along with CoLab—they developed a neo-pop/soul sound that’s familiar and totally unexpected all at once. Friday’s Foolery has the soul of a jam band, the brain of a free jazz act, and the pure pop fun of a sold-out stadium show.

Friday’s Foolery members have worked with some of the biggest original acts, cover bands, theatrical productions and entertainment companies in Dallas and internationally. They have been honored by Dallas Observer with two nominations Best R&B/Funk Band. Friday’s Foolery dropped their first EP, Sunday Morning, in 2013; listen wherever fine music products are streamed. Keep an eye out for their second release, 2724 Elm, coming out later this year (and featuring most of the songs you’ll hear at their set).
