Goo Goo Dolls will headline the 26th Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival, Saturday, May 19, 2018 on the Methodist Richardson Amphitheater Stage. Goo Goo Dolls were the soundtrack of the late 1990’s, with their rock ballads on steady radio repeat. Alt rock song “Name” released in 1995 and reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Goo Goo Dolls successfully rocketed into stardom with “Iris.” Written for the City of Angels soundtrack, and later released on the 1998 album Dizzy Up The Girl, “Iris” was #1 on the Billboard’s Pop Chart for four weeks and also nominated for two Grammy Awards.
John Rzeznik, the group’s lead vocalist and guitarist, and Robby Takac on bass, have been creating music together for over two decades and released a greatest hit album in 2007, which included “Slide,” “Broadway,” and “Better Days.” Read More

What exactly is “Appalachian” vocal style?
I am not sure! It’s a comment I received from music industry critic Robert Oermann on my project, “The Freedom EP.” The full quote:
“She has a very cool Appalachian vocal style. The upbeat tune is produced perfectly with plenty of open spaces between the fiddle, dobro and steel line. The accomplished singing is as impressive as the fact that she wrote or co-wrote all of the EP’s fine songs.”
This guy can be brutally honest and I wait with bated breath each time I know he’ll be reviewing my work. Read More
1. What does it mean to be selected as a finalist?
My wife and I are super new to Texas, and neither of us knew too much about the music scene here before we moved to Houston. On March 5, 2011, the crew of Space Shuttle Discovery received their requested wake up call to the tune of the song “Ohio,” better known as “Come Back to Texas.” The song title will be coming true this weekend. The Wichita Falls-native band, Bowling For Soup, will take the State Farm Plaza Stage at 8:45 p.m. at the 25th Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival in Richardson.
Bowling For Soup was officially formed on June 4, 1994 in in Wichita Falls. Jaret Reddick, Chris Burney, Erik Chandler, Lance Morill and Gary Wiseman played under several names before settling on their current moniker. Mixed and matched members of the band had performed as the Persecuted, the Folkadots, Slaw, Terminal Seasons, coolfork!, and Rubberneck.
There is a humorous flavor that distinguishes the music of Bowling For Soup from that of their punk rock cohorts. They manage to depict unusually specific characters and narratives in their songs, somehow without detracting from the contagious choruses. If you’ve heard “1985,” “High School Never Ends,” or “Girl All the Bad Guys Want,” you know exactly what I’m talking about. Read More
