The award-winning Al Johnson Performing Songwriter Contest encourages the growth of the art of independent performing singer-songwriters. The genres include Acoustic, Americana, Blues, Celtic, Country, Folk and Pop. Some of our past finalists include Ruthie Foster, Beth Wood, Karen Mal, Grace Pettis, Dave Carter, Louise Mosrie, Betty Soo, Matt Harlan, Butch Claude Morgan, RJ Cowdery, and Tom Faulkner.
2018 Finalist Announced
The following ten performers were selected as 2018 Al Johnson Performing Songwriter Contest Finalist through a blind screening process. Finalist will perform two original songs at Wildflower! during the Finals which will take place on May 19th at 11:30 a.m. on the United HealthCare Singer Songwriter Stage in the Eisemann Center. The finalist will compete for one of four $500 prizes including the Michael Terry People’s Choice Award.
The 2018 finalists in alphabetical order are:
