WILDFLOWER! Art Guitar Program & Auction

“A good composer doesn’t imitate; he steals.” ~ Igor Stravinsky

Since this program was introduced at the 2003 Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival, it has won both state and international awards for “Best New Fund-Raising Program.” Festival sponsors, local artists, celebrities, and sports figures are invited to enter a decorated guitar. Guitar entries, either electric or acoustic, can be transformed, painted, tiled, airbrushed or gilded in gold- whatever way you wish to express yourself, the music or maybe Wildflower!.

The guitars are then put on display in the Eisemann Center and sold in a silent auction for the duration of the Festival. Proceeds from the auction benefit the NETWORK of Community Ministries and the fine art programs in the secondary level of the R.I.S.D.

For more information about the program or how to enter,
please contact Suzanne Etman, 972-744-4585 or suzanne.etman@cor.gov.

Here's how the auction works:

  • Anyone is eligible to bid on the guitars during the festival.
  • Bidders must submit their contact information.
  • There are minimum starting bids and also minimum increment amounts.
  • The silent auction will end at 5:00 pm on Sunday, May 19th. At that time, the bidding sheets are taken up and winners will be notified. Payment is expected at this time.
  • Once paid for, winners can pick up their guitars before the last show has ended. If necessary, we can make arrangements for pick up at the Community Events office at Campbell and Jupiter after Tuesday, May 21. Please call 972-744-4584 to schedule a pickup time.
  • Payment can be by cash, check, or Master Card, Visa, AMEX, Discover.
